Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Sunday said that smart lockdown is better option than shutting down all schools across the country to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
“Tomorrow is the meeting of all Provincial Education Ministers to discuss the prevailing condition of COVID 19,” said Murad Raas in a tweet and added, “In my opinion we should focus on a Smart Lockdown rather than an across the board shutdown of Schools. Will update tomorrow.”

Earlier, the National Command and Operation Center recommended fresh restrictions including early and extended winter vacations for students in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The NCOC meeting, chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Wednesday recommended ban on all public gatherings of more than five hundred people, early and extended winter vacations; closure of cinemas, theatres and shrines with immediate effect; and only outdoor dining till 10 pm at restaurants and take away.
The forum was briefed that there is increasing positivity ratio in educational institutions and there is a need to check this trend.
The forum decided that on 16th of this month, the Federal Minister for Education would chair a special meeting at NCOC with provincial education ministers on board to assess and review the positivity prevailing in educational institutions.
After consultative discussions, the recommendations would be shared with the provinces for consequent decision and enforcement.
