Punjab govt eases business hour restrictions across province until June 1

Lahore  (Web Desk): In a significant move aimed at facilitating traders and improving economic activity, the government has extended business hours for all markets and bazaars across Lahore, allowing shops to remain open until 10pm.

The decision was announced by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he confirmed that the step has been taken in response to long-standing demands of the trader community.

According to the official announcement, the revised timing arrangement will remain effective until June 1, after which further review will be conducted based on circumstances and feedback from stakeholders.

The deputy commissioner stated that the primary objective of this relaxation is to enhance commercial activity in the city, support businesses, and provide greater convenience to both traders and citizens.

He added that extended hours would help improve customer flow in markets and contribute positively to local economic growth.

Authorities have directed all relevant departments to ensure strict implementation of the new timings across Lahore’s markets and shopping centres.

Traders have also been urged to cooperate with the administration and adhere to the updated schedule in order to maintain smooth business operations.

The move has been welcomed by segments of the business community, who had been consistently calling for relaxation in market timings to boost sales and recover from economic pressures.
