Interior Minister Naqvi, US Assistant Secretary of State discuss bilateral ties, regional situation 

Islamabad (Web Desk): United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Paul Kapur, has praised Pakistan for its constructive contribution toward promoting peace and stability in the region.

He made these remarks during his meeting in Islamabad with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations along with a detailed exchange of views on the current developments in the Middle East.

Both sides also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in key areas including security, counter-terrorism operations, and efforts to combat drug trafficking.

During the discussion, Interior Minister Naqvi said Pakistan is hopeful that the Middle East situation will ultimately move toward a durable and peaceful settlement.

He added that relations between Pakistan and the US are built on a foundation of mutual trust and cooperation, which he said has further improved during the tenure of Donald Trump.

Naqvi informed the visiting dignitary that Pakistan has put in place strong and foolproof security arrangements for American companies engaged in the Reko Diq mining project.

The interior minister also expressed the government’s desire to see the early commencement of direct flight operations between Pakistan and the US.
