Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz launches pink salt value addition financing scheme

Islamabad (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled the Chief Minister Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme, an initiative aimed at strengthening the province's pink salt industry, generating employment opportunities, and increasing export earnings through value-added production.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Lahore, the chief minister highlighted that Punjab's pink salt enjoys a strong reputation in international markets due to its exceptional quality.

She reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to preserving Pakistan's natural resources while promoting locally manufactured products under the "Made in Pakistan" brand worldwide.

As part of the initiative, Maryam Nawaz also announced the development of a 110-acre Pink Salt Mineral Processing Zone near Quaidabad to support industrial growth and improve the processing of the province's mineral resources.

The financing scheme offers interest-free loans ranging from Rs5 million to Rs50 million to investors. The funds can be used to purchase machinery, install advanced equipment, and adopt modern technologies for salt processing, refining, cleaning, packaging, and export-oriented operations.

The initiative is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistan's pink salt industry in global markets while encouraging private sector investment.
