DPM Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to advancing SCO's objectives

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during a meeting with the organization’s Secretary-General, Nurlan Yermekbayev.

During the meeting, DPM Dar underlined Pakistan’s determination to work in close partnership with all SCO member countries as it prepares to take over the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September 2026.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to successfully hosting the SCO Summit in 2027.

The two leaders held detailed discussions on the organization’s key priorities and explored measures to enhance cooperation among member states, particularly in the areas of economic development, transport links, and regional connectivity.

They also reviewed the prevailing regional and global situation, exchanging views on important international developments.

The SCO Secretary-General praised Pakistan for its positive and constructive role in advancing regional peace, stability, and cooperation.

Yermekbayev also shared his proposals aimed at improving the SCO’s overall performance and institutional efficiency.

He also briefed FM Dar on the preparations for the upcoming SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
