Murree (Web Desk): President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the problems faced by the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and ensuring that their legitimate concerns are addressed without delay.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the PML-N Parliamentary Party of Azad Jammu and Kashmir held in Murree.
Nawaz Sharif said the difficulties currently confronting Azad Kashmir were largely the result of the inadequate performance of successive previous governments, which, he said, had failed to fulfil the expectations and aspirations of the people.
He stressed that the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir remained among the government’s key priorities.
He said efforts should be made to bring the region’s development process in line with the progress witnessed in Punjab, particularly in infrastructure and public welfare projects.
The PML-N president also called upon Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to ensure the allocation of sufficient funds for development initiatives in Azad Kashmir so that the region’s infrastructure and essential services could be improved.
Nawaz Sharif further said the incumbent government was pursuing a coordinated strategy to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and reduce the country’s dependence on external support.
He expressed confidence that sustained economic reforms and development efforts would help Pakistan move towards greater economic self-reliance.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also present at the meeting.
