Kashmiris across the globe observe India's Independence Day as Black Day 

Srinagar (Web Desk): Kashmiris across both sides of the Line of Control and around the globe are marking India’s Independence Day as Black Day, voicing their rejection of New Delhi’s control over Jammu and Kashmir, which they regard as unlawful and imposed by force.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), this symbolic protest, widely supported by pro-freedom voices, follows a call issued by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, a collective of organizations advocating for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

Demonstrations against India’s presence in the region are being held in various countries where the Kashmiri diaspora is active. These protests aim to draw international attention to the ongoing human rights concerns in the region under Indian administration. Activists and supporters are denouncing what they describe as persistent oppression, military aggression, and denial of basic freedoms in the territory.

Meanwhile, the Indian authorities have imposed strict security measures throughout the region, especially in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

The area has effectively been turned into a fortified zone with a heavy presence of security personnel.  Movement restrictions have been intensified to prevent public demonstrations and gatherings that might express solidarity with Pakistan or challenge Indian rule. The lockdown-like atmosphere is intended to suppress any visible resistance or protest activity linked to the Black Day observance.
