Full Court unanimously approves updated Supreme Court Rules 2025

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Supreme Court (SC), meeting in a Full Court session on Friday, unanimously endorsed updates to the Supreme Court Rules, 2025.

The earlier rules, in place since 1980, were revisited and revised after a detailed review conducted by a committee consisting of Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi.

This committee had been formed under Rule 1(4) of Order I of the 2025 Rules, with the task of addressing any complications that might arise while implementing the new framework.

During the session, the Full Court expressed sincere appreciation for the committee’s extensive work, acknowledging their thorough examination of the 1980 rules, the drafting of the 2025 rules, and their efforts to incorporate suggestions aimed at removing practical hurdles.

The revised rules aim to strengthen institutional efficiency, enhance service delivery and ensure justice remains affordable and prompt.

The Full Court also unanimously approved granting the title of Senior Advocate Supreme Court to Muhammad Munir Paracha, Advocate, under Rule 5 of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2025.
