Interior Minister Naqvi visits Peshawar Police Headquarters, meets families of martyrs 

Peshawar (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Peshawar Police Headquarters on Thursday, where he spent time with the families of 15 police officials who were martyred in Bannu and was briefed in detail on the security situation and counter-terrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the visit, he conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and personally met the bereaved families, with special attention to the mothers of the fallen officers.

He reassured them that their sacrifice is honoured by the entire nation and that they are not alone in their grief. Addressing the mothers, he said that the courage shown by their sons had brought them the highest distinction, describing their sacrifice as an outstanding example of bravery and devotion to duty.

Later, the Interior Minister held a detailed briefing on the performance and operations of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ().

He appreciated the professionalism and effectiveness of the CTD, particularly its operations against extremist networks, and highlighted the importance of improved coordination between federal and provincial law enforcement institutions to strengthen overall security across the province.

The interior minister also reiterated that the federal government would continue extending full support to enhance the department’s operational strength and resources.

Following the briefing, Mohsin Naqvi visited the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, where he laid floral wreaths in tribute and offered Fateha for the martyrs.

He then inspected the KP Safe Cities Project, including a visit to the Integrated Command and Control Centre, where he reviewed the modern surveillance system equipped with advanced monitoring technology designed to improve urban security and response capabilities.

Inspector General of KP Police Zulfiqar Hameed, the Chief Secretary, IG FC KP North, IG Federal Constabulary, and other senior officials were present during the visit.

Senior CTD representatives also briefed the Interior Minister on ongoing modernization efforts aimed at aligning the department with contemporary policing standards.
