6 terrorists killed in CTD operation in KP’s Lakki Marwat

Lakki Marwat (Web Desk): The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated six suspected militants in an intelligence-led operation conducted on Friday in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to an official statement issued by the department.

The statement said the raid was launched in the Shagai locality, which falls within the jurisdiction of Gambila police station, after authorities received credible information regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the CTD team advanced towards the suspected hideout, the militants reportedly opened fire on the officials. In response, the law enforcement personnel returned fire, triggering a gun battle that lasted for nearly 40 minutes.

Following the exchange of fire, security forces carried out a search of the area and discovered the bodies of six militants.

Officials said the identification process of the deceased was underway, after which steps would be taken to track down and proceed against their facilitators and other associates.

According to the statement, the weapons and explosives recovered from the militants included four Kalashnikov rifles with magazines and ammunition, two 9mm pistols, eight hand grenades and an improvised explosive device.

The operation took place on the same day that unidentified attackers targeted a police vehicle in the Bettani subdivision of Lakki Marwat, resulting in the martyrdom of seven police personnel, including a police officer.
