Afghan soil continues to be used for terrorism in Pakistan, says Interior Minister Naqvi

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Afghan territory continues to be used for terrorist activities in Pakistan, posing a persistent security challenge to the country.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide met with Mohsin Naqvi, with the two sides discussing ways to expand cooperation in counterterrorism, preventing illegal immigration, police training and mutual legal assistance.

The meeting also included a detailed exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan and the activities of banned organisations operating there.

Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said Afghan soil was continuously being used for terrorism inside Pakistan. He stressed that Pakistan was standing as a barrier between the world and terrorism by confronting the threat on the frontline.

The interior minister said terrorism was a shared challenge that could not be defeated by any country acting alone. He called for greater international cooperation and coordinated efforts to completely eliminate the threat.

Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and said collective action was essential for ensuring lasting peace and security in the region and beyond.

The meeting also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Norway in security-related areas and other fields of mutual interest.
