Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of creating a clear strategy to increase bilateral trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan to $2 billion, a target previously set by the leadership of both countries.
During a meeting with Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, the prime minister highlighted several areas of potential collaboration, particularly in sectors such as mining, railways, including the Trans Afghan Railways project, special economic zones, banking, tourism, culture, and renewable energy.
The prime minister conveyed his warm regards to Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev through the ambassador and expressed his sincere appreciation for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their recent visit to Tashkent.
He expressed his satisfaction with the significant progress made during his trip, including the formation of a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the signing of important agreements and MOUs in various fields.
Following his return from Tashkent, PM Shehbaz had instructed the relevant ministers to ensure that the decisions made during the visit are swiftly followed through.
Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev said that President Mirziyoyev remains fully committed to enhancing the economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, aiming to build on their already strong political ties.
He also mentioned that President Mirziyoyev had accepted the invitation to visit Pakistan later this year, with the exact dates to be arranged between the two sides.
