Iran warns US against any interference in Strait of Hormuz after Trump's remarks

Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has issued a stern warning following US President Donald Trump's remarks about taking control of the Strait of Hormuz, saying it will not allow any American interference in the strategic waterway.

In a statement, the Iranian military said the United States would not be permitted to intervene in the Strait of Hormuz under any circumstances.

It warned that any activity in the waterway without Iran's approval would receive a "very strong response."

The military also cautioned regional countries that supporting or assisting the United States would be regarded as an act of war against Iran.

It warned that any further escalation could spread across the region, placing full responsibility on the US and its allies.

Earlier, President Trump told the media, "We are taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. We will be the guardians of the Strait of Hormuz, and we will be paid for overseeing it."

Trump also claimed that the United States had reached an agreement with Iran, but Tehran broke it. Calling Iranian leaders "a group of bad people," he said the US had carried out "very severe attacks" on Iran the previous night.

The US president added that Iran "always breaks agreements," saying Washington would now respond more forcefully. He further stated, "We will keep the Strait of Hormuz, and perhaps we will run it ourselves."
