At least 13 killed, several injured in bus, oil tanker collision on M9 Motorway near Karachi

Karachi (Web Desk): A tragic accident on the M9 Motorway near Kathore claimed the lives of at least 13 people on Friday, leaving several others injured, authorities reported. The collision involved an oil tanker, a bus, and multiple other vehicles.

Officials revealed that the bus was traveling on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash. Rescue teams said the victims included women and children, and the impact of the collision caused some passengers to fall from a bridge.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, as authorities worked to stabilize the situation.

Sindh’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Javed Alam Odho, instructed police to immediately reach the scene, secure the surrounding area, and assist rescue teams while facilitating the investigation.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar confirmed that he has instructed authorities to provide the injured with immediate and top-notch medical attention. He noted that Rescue 1122 teams were already on-site, actively managing relief operations.

He added that those injured in the accident have been transported to hospitals for treatment. A strong police presence is maintaining security at the location, and the situation is now under control.

Following the incident, the road has been cleared, and normal traffic has resumed. The minister also called on officials to expedite all relief efforts to ensure prompt assistance.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his grief over the fatal incident, offering prayers for the departed and extending his sympathies to the bereaved families.

He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured and directed the provincial government to provide immediate and top-quality medical care to all affected.
