UN expert holds Israel and its allies responsible for Gaza's destruction

Geneva (Web Desk): Francesca Albanese, the UN Human Rights Council's Special Rapporteur on Palestine, has sharply criticized Israel, the United States, Germany, the UK, and Italy for their role in the destruction of Gaza, holding them all accountable for the devastating situation in the region.

According to international news reports, Albanese stated that the weapons used in the Israeli bombardment of Gaza were provided by the United States, Germany, the UK, and Italy. She emphasized that the responsibility for Gaza's destruction lies not only with Israel, but also with the countries that supplied the weapons and provided political and diplomatic support.

Albanese further demanded that not only Israel, but also the countries that supplied arms to Israel—specifically the US, Germany, the UK, and Italy—must provide financial resources for Gaza’s reconstruction. "The responsibility for the damage to Gaza's civilian population, residential areas, hospitals, schools, and infrastructure is not only Israel's but also that of its facilitators," she said.

She also stated that the countries that provided Israel with weapons, offered political protection, and weakened ceasefire efforts must now be held accountable by contributing to the restoration of homes, hospitals, schools, water, electricity, and other basic services in Gaza.

It is important to note that Francesca Albanese has faced several restrictions due to her outspoken stance on Gaza, including a ban on traveling to the United States. However, she has asserted that these restrictions will not deter her from her principled position. “I know there is a risk, but I will continue to speak out on Gaza,” she said.

Albanese’s comments have sparked significant debate, as they challenge the international community’s role in the ongoing conflict and emphasize the need for accountability and responsibility in the aftermath of the devastation.
