President Zardari, PM Shehbaz reaffirm resolve to eradicate child labour

Islamabad: (Web Desk): The World Day Against Child Labour is being marked today (Friday) around the world, including Pakistan, to draw attention to the ongoing fight against child labour and the measures required to bring it to an end.

This year’s observance carries the theme, “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” highlighting the importance of protecting children’s rights and ensuring better employment opportunities for adults.

On the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s determination to eradicate child labour and shield children from all forms of exploitation.

In separate messages issued to mark the day, the president and the premier emphasized the need to safeguard the younger generation and provide them with a secure and nurturing environment.

In his message, the President said Pakistan joined the international community in reaffirming its resolve to protect children from exploitation and to ensure that every child can grow up in safety and attend school.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is pursuing a broad-based strategy focused on completely eliminating child labour across the country.

The prime minister also urged employers, workers, parents, teachers, civil society groups, religious scholars, media organizations, and the private sector to work hand in hand with the government in this national effort to protect children and secure their future.
