Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday emphasized the need to digitize every essential stage of Hajj this year, instructing the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims and to make government services more accessible to the public through modern technology.
During a review meeting on NITB operations, the prime minister praised the Ministry of Information Technology and other relevant departments for their thorough preparations in setting up the Asan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad.
The premier directed the officials concerned to facilitate the citizens' access to government facilities through the use of technology.
He also announced that he plans to hold a separate session soon to review a QR-based feedback system aimed at overseas Pakistanis.
Officials from NITB told the prime minister that with the appointment of the board’s new CEO, the organization is undergoing a comprehensive restructuring to align with current needs.
They added that all arrangements are in place for the launch of the Asan Khidmat Markaz to serve residents of the federal capital.
The briefing highlighted that a new, secure application covering all government departments is set to be launched shortly.
Additionally, an integrated “One Patient One ID” system is in the final stages of development, which is expected to enhance efficiency and ensure timely service in public hospitals. Officials noted that this initiative would improve hospital operations and provide better care for patients.
The NITB also revealed that it is working on a big data-based analytics dashboard for the judiciary to strengthen performance monitoring. Currently, the board manages more than 145 government websites, over 126 portals, and 31 mobile applications.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and other senior government officials.
