At lease 6 police personnel martyred in IED blast targeting police vehicle in KP's Tank

Tank (Web Desk): At least six police personnel were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a police vehicle in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.

According to police, the vehicle, which was returning from Gomal Police Station, was obliterated in the blast.

Among those who lost their lives was Additional Station House Officer (SHO) Ishaq Khan, authorities confirmed.

Following the explosion, law enforcement teams quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and began probing the circumstances behind the deadly attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of police personnel in a terrorist attack in Tank district.

In their separate messages, the president and the premier offered prayers for the eternal peace of the fallen officers and conveyed their deepest condolences to the grieving families.

The president paid tribute to the martyred officials, lauding their bravery and dedication in the line of duty.

In his message, PM Shehbaz directed an immediate inquiry into the incident and urged that those behind the attack be brought to justice without delay. He reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to completely eliminating terrorism from the country.

Expressing profound grief and anger over the loss, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi sought an immediate report from senior police officials.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, calling their sacrifice an act of true heroism.

“These courageous men of KP Police embraced martyrdom to safeguard the lives and property of the people,” Kundi said, adding that he was proud of their valor.

He further condemned the attack, attributing it to Indian-backed Fitna al Khwarij, and insisted that such acts would not weaken the morale of the province’s security forces.

The governor also called on the PTI-led provincial government to take concrete measures to maintain peace in the region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also voiced strong condemnation of the attack, paying tribute to the policemen who lost their lives.

“The brave officers gave their lives today so that the nation could enjoy a peaceful tomorrow,” Naqvi said, adding that the sacrifices of these martyrs would always be remembered.
