Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Thursday signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
The development comes following a meeting between the chief minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan at former premier's Zaman Park residence.
Speaking to newsmen in Lahore, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the Punjab CM has signed the summary for dissolving the provincial assembly.
The PTI leader said that the advice has been forwarded to the Punjab governor.
“If governor does not accept the advice then, the assembly is automatically dissolved after 48 hours,” Chaudhry said.
Fawad also said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly would be dissolved “day after tomorrow”.
The PTI leader said that a letter would be sent to PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz in the next two days for finalising an interim government, adding that elections would take place in the next 90 days.
Earlier today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) disposed of the petition after Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman retracted orders to de-notify Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi after he won vote-of confidence with the support of 186 members of the provincial assembly (MPAs).
Elahi had challenged Governor Baligh Ur Rehman’s order to de-notifying the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader as the Punjab chief minister.
The governor had de-notified CM Elahi last month after he failed to take a vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly.
