Living in Karachi deserves a medal, says Ayesha Omar in a sarcastic remark

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistani actress and host Ayesha Omar has reacted to Karachi being ranked among the world’s least liveable cities, saying that people who continue to live in the city despite its challenges deserve recognition.

Taking a sarcastic tone, Ayesha said that surviving life in Karachi is no less than an achievement. Her comments came after the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released its Global Liveability Index 2026, which ranked Karachi as the fourth least liveable city in the world.

Sharing the report on her Instagram story, the actress said the ranking did not come as a surprise to her.

She praised Karachi’s residents for facing daily struggles, including damaged and polluted roads, long traffic jams, frequent power and gas shortages, and concerns over crime and security.

Ayesha said that despite these difficulties, the people of Karachi continue to work hard, pay taxes and contribute to the country’s economy. She added that maintaining a normal life under such circumstances is itself a remarkable achievement.

The actress has previously voiced her opinions on various social and public issues. Recently, she was featured in a BBC report on women’s issues, where she called on artificial intelligence and technology companies to take effective measures against the misuse of women’s images and online harassment.

Besides acting, Ayesha Omar is also involved in social welfare activities and serves as a goodwill ambassador for a non-profit organisation working to support education for underprivileged children in Pakistan.

Her recent film “Mera Lyari” also highlighted social challenges, youth issues, crime and poverty while delivering a message of hope and a better future.
