Karachi (Web Desk): On the fourth day of the business week, gold prices in Pakistan saw a slight increase. According to the Sarafa Bazar Association, the price of one tola of gold rose by RS 500, reaching RS 443,562.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold increased by RS 428, bringing it to RS 380,282.
It is important to note that Pakistan's annual gold demand ranges from 60 to 90 tons, with a total value of approximately 8 to 12 billion USD. However, over 90% of this business remains undocumented.
According to the CCP's investigative report on "Pakistan's Gold Market," 70% of domestic gold demand is linked to weddings and social events.
Pakistan also relies on gold imports, and in fiscal year 2024, gold worth 17 million USD was imported. As of 2025, the country's official gold reserves were recorded at 64.76 tons, valued at around 9 billion USD.
The report further highlights that the Reko Diq project could generate revenues up to 74 billion USD over the next 37 years. At current prices, this project is expected to yield around 179 million ounces of gold, worth approximately 54 billion USD.
