Former ISI chief Faiz Hamid sentenced to 14 years by military court

Islamabad (Web Desk): Former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the sentence follows a prolonged legal process under the Pakistan Army Act, which included a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceeding that lasted 15 months.

The FGCM proceedings began on August 12, 2024, and Faiz Hameed faced four serious charges, including interference in political activities, violation of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing harm to individuals.

After a lengthy legal process, the FGCM found Faiz Hameed guilty on all charges. Throughout the proceedings, he was granted full legal rights, including the right to have his preferred defense team.

Following the verdict, the Pakistan Army confirmed that Faiz Hameed has the right to appeal the decision, which can be filed in the appropriate forum.

The ISPR further mentioned that the allegations related to Faiz Hameed's involvement in political activities and incitement are being dealt with separately, and further investigations are underway.

The sentence will come into effect on December 11, 2025, after a final ruling from the military court.
