California (Web Desk): ‘WhatsApp’ announced to block its services for some samrtphones by the mid of 2017.
Foreign media reported that earlier this year, the world’s popular instant messaging application decided to block its service for several smartphones by the end of 2016. WhatsApp announced to discontinue support for BlackBerry and Nokia phones at the end of December as well but it has now decided to continue support till end of June.
WhatsApp will be ending support for devices running Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, the Windows Phone 7 and the iPhone 3GS as well as iOS6 in 2017 even increasing score of 1 billion active users per month. The company stated that it decided to discontinue support due to limitations of the devices.
Despite WhatsApp’s decision to share user information with parent company Facebook or the recently announced support discontinuation, the application’s popularity has not been affected with more and more users actively relying on WhatsApp as the go-to communication option.
