Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi among several Indian congress leaders arrested over anti-Modi rally

News Delhi (Web Desk): Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, along with several senior MPs from the INDIA opposition bloc, were arrested by Delhi Police on Monday during a protest march to the Election Commission’s office.

The march aimed to submit a formal complaint alleging bias by the poll body in favour of the ruling BJP.

Police stated that while only 30 MPs were permitted to visit the Election Commission, over 200 joined the protest. Clashes erupted as several leaders attempted to breach police barricades, prompting detentions to "prevent a breakdown of law and order," according to DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla.

“This fight is to save the Constitution,” Rahul Gandhi said while being led to a police bus. Priyanka Gandhi accused the government of suppressing dissent, calling it “cowardly.”

Visuals from the scene showed large crowds, placards, and slogans, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also seen scaling barricades before being detained. All detained leaders were taken to a nearby police station.

Opposition parties have vowed to continue their campaign, demanding electoral transparency and a clean, accurate voter list ahead of the upcoming elections.
