PSX hits fresh peak as index jumps 1,547 points

Karachi (Web Desk): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) sustained its bullish momentum on Monday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by 1,547.05 points, reflecting a 1.06 percent increase. The index concluded the trading session at a historic high of 146,929.84 points, compared to the previous closing of 145,382.80 points.

Investor activity remained strong, with total share volume rising to 611.2 million shares, up from 548.05 million recorded in the previous session. Despite the higher volume, the total value of traded shares declined slightly to Rs44.004 billion, down from Rs45.488 billion a day earlier.

Out of 479 listed entities that participated in Monday's trade, 242 registered gains in their share prices, while 209 witnessed declines.

The share prices of 28 companies remained unchanged during the session, reflecting a mixed but overall positive sentiment in the market.

Lotte Chemical emerged as the volume leader with 73.29 million shares exchanged at a price of Rs21.80 per share. It was followed by Siddiqsons Tin, which saw 21.16 million shares traded at Rs7.55 per share, and Invest Bank with 19.98 million shares changing hands at Rs8.68 per share.

In terms of individual stock performance, Mari Energies Limited recorded the highest price appreciation for the day, with its share price climbing by Rs47.52 to close at Rs666.05. Thal Limited followed with a gain of Rs45.53, finishing the session at Rs500.78 per share.

Conversely, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited experienced the steepest decline, shedding Rs906.49 per share to end at Rs32,100.01. PIA Holding Company LimitedB was the next major loser, with a drop of Rs536.51 to close at Rs28,843.15.

In the futures segment, trading was observed in 326 companies. Of these, 221 ended the day with gains, 101 saw losses, while share prices of 4 entities remained unchanged, indicating a continuation of positive sentiment in forward contracts.
