PM Shehbaz reaffirms commitment to expand Pak-Saudi ties

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to take their strategic partnership to new heights and expand economic cooperation during a high-level meeting held in Islamabad.

The development took place during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a Saudi delegation led by Saudi Arabia’s Finance Minister. Senior political and military leadership from Pakistan also attended the meeting, highlighting the importance of the engagement.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the strong historical and brotherly relations between the two countries. He stated that Pakistan has always stood with Saudi Arabia in difficult times and appreciated Riyadh’s continued economic support for Pakistan.

Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and development projects. They agreed to promote new investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly through the Special Investment Facilitation Council, which aims to facilitate and streamline foreign investment.

The two countries also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in defense, security, and broader strategic areas. In addition, Saudi Arabia expressed support for ongoing infrastructure and energy development projects in Pakistan.

The presence of Pakistan’s military leadership, including Asim Munir, was noted as significant, reflecting close coordination between civilian and military leadership on matters of economic diplomacy and strategic relations.

Overall, the meeting was seen as an important step toward deepening Pakistan-Saudi relations and expanding cooperation into long-term strategic and economic partnership areas.
