Pakistan, Bangladesh agree to boost cooperation in curbing cybercrime and online fraud

New York (Web Desk): Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to extend cooperation to tackle cybercrime and internet-based financial fraud following a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in New York, the interior ministry said.

During the talks, the two ministers reached a consensus on enhancing cooperation to counter growing cyber threats and strengthen coordination against online criminal activities.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that both countries should take advantage of the emerging opportunities to deepen their bilateral partnership and further improve ties.

The meeting also featured an in-depth exchange of views on the escalating tensions between Iran and the United States (US), as well as the evolving security situation across the Middle East.

Bangladesh’s interior minister praised Pakistan for its constructive contribution and continued efforts toward promoting peace and stability in the region.

Interior Minister Naqvi represented Pakistan at the United Nations (UN) summit in New York held on July 7 and 8.

The high-level gathering brought together interior ministers, police chiefs and senior law enforcement officials from around the globe to discuss ways to strengthen international peace, improve security and boost cooperation in tackling transnational crime.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Naqvi held a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The UN chief praised Pakistan's continued efforts in promoting peace and stability.

Interior Minister Naqvi also met separately with his counterparts from China, Russia and Sri Lanka to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.
