Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its collective goals, emphasizing the importance of enhancing its role as the united voice of the Muslim world.
In a conversation with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha in Islamabad on Friday, the premier acknowledged the OIC's steadfast support for resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with both UN and OIC resolutions.
On Palestine issue, PM Shehbaz strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
He stressed the necessity of ensuring unimpeded humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and holding Israel accountable for its documented violations of international law.
The prime minister also expressed his gratitude to the OIC Secretary General for his participation in the upcoming International Conference on Girls' Education in Muslim Communities, which Pakistan is hosting.
This conference aims to address the challenges of education and gender equality within the Muslim world.
In his remarks, OIC Secretary General Taha thanked Pakistan for its warm reception and praised the country’s leadership in addressing critical issues that impact the Muslim Ummah.
He reaffirmed the OIC's ongoing support for the Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom and self-determination. Taha also briefed the prime minister on organization’s diplomatic initiatives to address this issue.
The two sides agreed on the need for global pressure to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza and recognized the two-state solution as the key to a lasting peace in the region.
The two leaders also discussed various regional and global matters of shared concern, including the situation in Afghanistan and the rise in Islamophobia worldwide.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatimi, were present during the meeting.
