Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Security forces neutralised 11 Indian-sponsored terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists attempted to establish roadblock in Kharan and disrupt local traffic. The security forces promptly intercepted and engaged the terrorists, whereby, killing eight Indian-sponsored terrorists.
“In another engagement, a deliberately planned IBO was conducted in Washuk district on reports of presence of terrorists,” the ISPR said, adding that during the conduct of operation, the troops effectively busted terrorists’ hideout and after an intense fire exchange, three terrorists were killed.
Moreover, security forces also recovered 2.9 tons of explosive which was being used for preparation of improvised explosive devices.
The military’s media wing said that sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorist in the area.
"Relentless counter terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country," the ISPR said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday praised the security forces for successfully carrying out operations against Indian-sponsored terrorists in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts.
In separate statements, the president and the premier applauded the forces for their swift action, which resulted in the killing of 11 terrorists during the operation.
They reaffirmed that the hostile plans of terrorist groups allegedly backed by India would be resisted and defeated at every cost.
President Zardari also appreciated the security personnel for seizing 2.9 tonnes of explosives during the action carried out against terrorists in Washuk.
He maintained that operations against Fitna al-Hindustan would continue until the terrorist networks were fully dismantled and eliminated.
PM Shehbaz praised the forces for preventing terrorists from blocking a road and disrupting traffic in Kharan.
He also highlighted the professionalism of the security personnel in destroying a terrorist hideout in Washuk and recovering the large quantity of explosives.
The prime minister reiterated that the fight against Fitna al-Khawarij and other terrorist groups would continue with full force.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for successfully conducting operations against India-backed militants in Kharan and Washuk, saying their effective and professional response had once again frustrated the plans of terrorist elements.
In a statement, he lauded the security personnel for their efforts in confronting terrorism and appreciated the way the operations were carried out.
Naqvi said the forces had managed to prevent the militants from achieving their objectives while once again displaying their operational strength in the battle against terrorism.
The interior minister also paid tribute to the personnel who killed 11 India-backed militants during the operations.
He said the successful action was a reflection of the forces’ determination to defend the country and protect its people from security threats.
Naqvi maintained that the security forces would continue their efforts to eradicate India-backed militant groups and would not allow terrorist elements to operate freely.
He said the forces were firmly pursuing their mission and taking necessary action against threats created by militant organisations.
The minister described the members of the security forces as a matter of pride for the entire nation, highlighting their dedication and sacrifices in the line of duty.
Naqvi said that the people of Pakistan fully support the security forces in their ongoing campaign against terrorism.
He noted that the nation stands firmly behind the personnel who are confronting the country’s security challenges and recognises their sacrifices and services.
Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to defeat terrorism and back every measure aimed at promoting peace and stability.
The interior minister said that the security forces would continue carrying out their responsibilities with commitment and determination while taking action against militants engaged in activities directed against the state.
