New York (Web Desk): A boxing trainer Lou Duva, who worked with some of the sport's best, died Wednesday at the age of 94.
According to international news report, Duva's death was informed by his family.
Duva died of natural causes, he trained 19 champion boxers including heavyweights Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, welterweights Pernell Whitaker and Meldrick Taylor, and middleweight Hector "Macho" Camacho.
Duva also worked with middleweight Joe Giardiello, the first world champion he trained. Following an upset of Sugar Ray Robinson in June of 1963, Giardiello beat champion Dick Tiger on Dec. 7, 1963 to win the world middleweight title.
Duva was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in 1998.
Duva was born May 28, 1922 in New York City to Italian immigrants, and the family later moved Paterson, N.J. He was admitted into St. Joseph hospital in Paterson on Feb. 27.
