Pakistan Navy successfully rescues 20 crew members from sinking cargo dhow

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) carried out a successful rescue mission after a cargo dhow began sinking in the Arabian Sea east of Ormara, bringing all 20 crew members to safety.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy), the vessel was on a voyage from Karachi to the Gulf of Oman when it started taking on large amounts of water.

The emergency worsened as sea conditions rapidly deteriorated, leaving the crew in a life-threatening situation.

Following the distress alert, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) immediately established coordination with the Pakistan Navy to launch a swift search and rescue operation.

Responding without delay, the navy deployed both maritime and aerial resources. PNS HUNAIN was redirected to the vessel's location to lead the rescue effort, while a Sea King helicopter was dispatched to provide aerial monitoring and support during the operation.

Owing to the prompt action and well-executed rescue by Pakistan Navy personnel, all 20 individuals aboard the stricken dhow were safely evacuated.

The rescued crew members are now receiving the required medical assistance and care.

The successful operation underscores Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of life at sea and its readiness to respond to maritime emergencies around the clock.
