Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan was arrested was arrested in GHQ attack case pertaining to May 9 violence on Tuesday.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi had summoned Khan, who is already imprisoned in cipher and grafts cases, in May 9 cases today.
However, the former PTI chief attended the court’s proceedings via video link as he could not be produced in the court by Adiala jail authorities owing to security concerns.
The hearing of cases related to the May 9 mayhem against the former premier minister commenced at the Adiala jail through video link and was attended by multiple station house officers (SHO).
SHO Royal Artillery (RA) Baazar requested the court to grant physical remand of Imran in the GHQ attack case. However, the court turned down the request.
The ATC judge directed the police to interrogate the PTI founder in Adiala Jail.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTI founder is currently imprisoned in Adiala jail on judicial remand in Tosha Khana and 190 million pounds references.
On May 9, 2023, former premier Imran Khan’s alleged supporters and workers resorted to violence attacking and ransacking military installation including the GHQ and the corps commander house in Lahore in protest against the arrest of the party chief in graft case.
Later, dozens of PTI leaders and workers were arrested in connection with May 9 violence, while several leaders parted ways with the party.
