In phone call with PM Shehbaz, French President Macron commends Pakistan's role in Iran-US talks

Islamabad (Web Desk): French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which he praised Pakistan’s diplomatic intervention that helped secure a ceasefire between Iran and the United States (US) and facilitated the resumption of dialogue between the two sides.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the French president congratulated PM Shehbaz for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and conveyed his best wishes for the forthcoming round of peace negotiations set to be held in Islamabad.

Expressing appreciation for France’s backing of Pakistan’s peace efforts, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to continuing its role in promoting regional harmony and stability.

The two leaders also shared deep concern over the ongoing aggression in Lebanon and emphasized the immediate need to stop the violence and bloodshed in order to restore peace across the entire region.
The two leaders agreed to remain in contact.
