Hot, humid weather to prevail over most plain areas on Wednesday: PMD

Islamabad (Web Desk): Hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over most plain areas of the country on Wednesday, while partly cloudy skies are expected over Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather in Islamabad and its surrounding areas is expected to stay dry, although daytime temperatures will remain high.

Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), most districts are likely to experience predominantly dry conditions, with hot weather continuing in the plains.

The upper parts of the province may turn partly cloudy during the afternoon.

Most areas of Punjab are also expected to face hot and humid weather. Partly cloudy conditions, however, are likely to develop over Murree, Galliyat and nearby areas.

Sindh is forecast to remain largely hot and humid, while Karachi and other coastal locations could see partly cloudy skies along with a possibility of drizzle.

Similar conditions are expected in most parts of Balochistan, where hot and humid weather will prevail. Coastal areas of the province may experience partly cloudy skies.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to remain partly cloudy during the forecast period.

During the previous 24 hours, hot and humid conditions continued across most of the country’s plains. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms was reported at a few locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Kalam received 2mm of rainfall, whereas Gupis recorded 1mm.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place, registering a maximum temperature of 43°C. Sibbi and Bhakkar each recorded 42°C, while temperatures climbed to 41°C in Dadu, Turbat, Dalbandin and Noor Pur Thal.

The temperatures recorded in major cities were as follows: Islamabad 23/35°C, Lahore 26/38°C, Karachi 27/33°C, Peshawar 27/37°C, Quetta 14/35°C, Gilgit 17/34°C, Muzaffarabad 22/37°C, Skardu 12/29°C, Murree 14/23°C, Faisalabad 27/38°C and Multan 27/37°C.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded temperatures of 15/32°C, Jammu 24/34°C, Pulwama 16/32°C, Anantnag 17/32°C, Shopian 15/30°C and Baramulla 17/31°C. Leh remained comparatively cooler, with temperatures ranging between 9°C and 24°C.
