Progress in Punjab is not limited to large cities but extends to every district: CM Maryam

Pakpattan  (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reaffirmed her government’s commitment to inclusive development across the province, emphasizing that progress in Punjab is not limited to large cities but extends to every district and community.

She made these remarks while addressing a special ceremony held in Pakpattan to mark the launch of electric buses in the city — a major step toward eco-friendly and affordable urban transport.

In her address, Maryam Nawaz said that the Punjab government is focused on public welfare and equitable growth, ensuring that citizens’ tax money is utilized transparently for their benefit.

She highlighted that with the introduction of electric buses, residents can now travel anywhere within the city for just Rs20, a fare even lower than that of local chingchi rickshaws.

This initiative, she noted, will provide affordable, comfortable, and environment-friendly transportation to people in smaller cities, a facility once limited to larger urban centers.

The chief minister remarked, “No one had ever imagined that electric buses would operate in cities like Mianwali, Sargodha, and Sahiwal — but today, we have made it possible.” She said the provincial government is ensuring that modern public transport facilities reach all parts of Punjab to reduce travel costs and improve air quality.

Maryam Nawaz also commended the ‘Suthra Punjab’ (Clean Punjab) Program, calling it one of the most successful initiatives of her administration.

She said the program has achieved results beyond expectations, transforming the cleanliness and sanitation systems in multiple cities.

The Punjab CM expressed satisfaction over the improved state of cleanliness in Pakpattan, noting that “the city looks cleaner and more beautiful than ever before.”

She added that people from other provinces have also started to recognize Punjab’s progress, often expressing their wish that their towns and neighborhoods could match Punjab’s new standards of cleanliness and public service delivery.

The chief minister concluded by reaffirming her government’s vision of a prosperous, clean, and connected Punjab, where modern infrastructure and citizen-centered policies drive sustainable development across the province.
