Federal cabinet approves 27th Constitutional Amendment draft document

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet through a video link from Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday, during which the cabinet approved the draft of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The document will now be presented before Parliament for formal consideration.

In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz welcomed the cabinet members and extended his appreciation to the allied political parties in Parliament for their cooperation.

Following the cabinet’s approval, the premier instructed Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar to brief the media regarding the main features of the proposed constitutional changes.

PM Shehbaz highlighted that the amendment represented a collective effort by all stakeholders, aimed at reinforcing the federation and strengthening coordination between the provinces and the federal government.

He commended the Ministry of Law and Justice, the Attorney General, and their respective teams for their diligent work on the proposal.

The prime minister also acknowledged the guidance provided by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Nawaz Sharif during the process and expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari for extending his support to the initiative.

He further thanked coalition leaders including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Hussain Magsi, and Chaudhry Salik Hussain for their backing.

PM Shehbaz mentioned that he had also held discussions with Aimal Wali Khan, Ejaz ul Haq, and several other political figures to secure broad-based consensus.

Expressing satisfaction over the direction in which the country was heading, the premier said Pakistan was experiencing political and economic stability and emphasized the need for continued unity and collective effort to ensure sustained progress and national prosperity.
