PM congratulates GB people on fair & peaceful elections, felicitates PPP on emerging as leading party

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday hailed the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for ensuring the successful conduct of the general elections held on Sunday, describing the voting process as peaceful, transparent, and marked by strong political participation.

In his statement, the premier congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on securing the largest share of seats in the elections.

He also extended his felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over the party’s performance in the region.

PM Shehbaz further commended the victorious candidates of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), noting that they mounted a tough challenge during the electoral contest.

He also praised the party’s campaign workers and leadership for their dedication, commitment, and tireless efforts throughout the election process.

The prime minister also conveyed his congratulations to all successful candidates from across Gilgit-Baltistan and appreciated the electorate for actively taking part in the democratic exercise with enthusiasm and responsibility.

Describing free, peaceful, and transparent elections along with vibrant political activity as a hallmark of democracy, he lauded the Election Commission for conducting the polls in a fair and impartial manner.

PM Shehbaz also acknowledged the contribution of police and other law enforcement personnel, applauding their professionalism in maintaining security and public order, which helped ensure the smooth and peaceful completion of the electoral process.
