Iran, Israel exchange fresh missile and air strikes as regional tensions escalate

Tehran / Jerusalem (Web Desk): Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel on Sunday in response to Israeli strikes on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.

The retaliatory attack triggered air raid sirens across Haifa and other parts of northern Israel.

Witnesses reported that an Iranian missile struck an area near Tiberias, while Israeli authorities claimed that their air defence systems intercepted most of the incoming missiles before they reached their targets.

At the same time, Lebanon's Hezbollah movement also carried out drone and missile attacks against northern Israel.

Despite calls from US President Donald Trump urging restraint and asking Israel not to escalate the conflict, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes inside Iran.

 Israeli officials said the attacks targeted military sites in several locations across western and central Iran, including the cities of Isfahan and Tabriz.

As tensions continue to rise across the region, Iran has indefinitely closed its western airspace. Iraq and Syria have also shut their airspace, with operations at Damascus Airport suspended until further notice. Meanwhile, US forces have been placed on high alert.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned Israel that unless attacks on Lebanon are halted, the consequences could become even more severe and destructive.
