Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against his sentence in the Al-Azizia reference December 18.
According to the registrar’s office, a divisional bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani will hear the petition filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo.
The court will also hear NAB’s appeal for an increase in sentence in the same on the same day.
Accountability court judge Arshad Malik had convicted Mr Sharif in the Al-Azizia case but acquitted him in the Flagship reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau. The former premier was sentenced to 7-years behind bars in the Al-Azizia reference.
However, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz demanded his release after the controversy regarding the leaked video of judge Arshad Malik.
The video was made public by Maryam Nawaz, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice-President after which judge Arshad Malik was removed from his position.
