Pakistan cannot afford politics of chaos, says Uzma Bukhari

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said an attempt was made to misrepresent a statement by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stressing that Pakistan cannot afford politics of confrontation and instability at this time.

Speaking in an interview, Bukhari said Pakistan had achieved a major victory in “Marka-e-Haq,” while the country’s armed forces demonstrated their capabilities and gave a strong response to Indian aggression.

She said the entire nation stood firmly with the security forces in the fight against terrorism, adding that personnel of the security forces had made tremendous sacrifices during the ongoing battle against militancy.

The Punjab information minister expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that the provincial government had failed to take effective measures against terrorism and was using the province’s resources for political agitation.

Bukhari said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also wanted peace to prevail in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She added that Maryam had made it clear that maintaining law and order was the responsibility of provincial governments.

Questioning the criticism directed at Maryam Nawaz, Bukhari asked how the chief minister’s remarks could be described as an insult to the Pashtun community. She argued that the real deprivation of Pashtuns would be denying them fundamental rights such as access to education.

Bukhari further alleged that Sohail Afridi was openly moving around while using government resources.
