GB CEC visits polling stations to review voting process, security arrangements 

Gilgit (Web Desk): Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan conducted a detailed visit to several polling stations across Gilgit city on Sunday to evaluate the voting process, examine security arrangements, and assess the overall atmosphere during the General Elections 2026.

He was accompanied by Provincial Election Commissioner Abid Raza, Deputy Commissioner Gilgit Arif Ahmad, SP Gilgit, and other concerned officials throughout the inspection.

During the visit, Raja Shahbaz Khan met election officials, security staff, and members of the administration, urging them to discharge their responsibilities with complete impartiality, integrity, and professionalism.

He also reviewed the facilities provided to voters and inspected the measures taken to ensure a smooth and orderly polling process.

The CEC also held meetings with polling agents representing various contesting candidates. The agents expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan and praised the peaceful conduct of polling as well as the effective management of election activities.

Later, Raja Shahbaz Khan visited the Gilgit Safe City Control Centre, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the monitoring of polling stations, election security plans, and the special measures adopted to safeguard the electoral process.

Inspector General of Police Dr. Nasir Akbar Khan, along with other senior officials, was present during the briefing.Officials informed the Chief Election Commissioner about the deployment of advanced surveillance technology and modern security systems being used to continuously monitor election-related operations.

Expressing satisfaction over the overall electoral arrangements and security framework, Raja Shahbaz Khan appreciated the efforts of the district administration, police, and all relevant institutions involved in ensuring the successful conduct of the elections.

He reiterated the Election Commission’s determination to employ every available resource to guarantee a transparent, peaceful, free, and fair electoral process.

The GB CEC also encouraged citizens to actively exercise their democratic right and cooperate with the administration and law enforcement agencies in maintaining a calm and secure environment throughout the polling period.
