Edgbaston, Birmingham (Staff Report): Pakistan beat South Africa by 19 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method in a rain-affected match of Champions Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Wednesday.
Batting first, South Africa scored 219 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs.
DA Miller with 75 runs and De Kock with 33 runs remained the main scorers from South African side.
Earlier, spinners Imad Wasim and Mohammad Hafeez were on fire as South Africa lost Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock early in their innings. Hasan Ali took three, while Junaid Khan and Imad Wasim grabbed two wickets each.
Imad got Pakistan off the mark in the eighth over as he trapped opener Amla lbw before Hafeez dismissed de Kock in the same manner in the 13th over. Imad struck again in the 14th to send de Villiers out on a golden duck.
Earlier, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first against Pakistan in Group B’s third match of Champions Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Wednesday.
