Islamabad (Web Desk): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-i Pakistan leaders for next week to join the inquiry in prohibited funding case.
FIA Karachi summoned former Sindh governor Imran Ismail and MPA Dr Seema Zia. Meanwhile, Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser also received the FIA Peshawar chapter’s call-up notice.
The FIA Lahore chapter has summoned the PTI’s Punjab Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed for Aug 11 in his party’s prohibited funding case.
On Friday, the FIA constituted a five-member team, headed by its Director Muhammad Athar Waheed, to supervise inquiry teams of the agency’s respective zones probing into the prohibited funding case.
According to a notification issued by the agency’s economic crimes wing director, the monitoring team would be responsible for coordination with and guiding the respective inquiry teams in each zone. Its members would be FIA’s Additional Director Khalid Anees, Deputy Director Khawaja Hammad, Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed and Assistant Director Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh.
Last week, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued show-cause notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, directing the former premier to appear before the electoral watchdog on August 23 in prohibited funding case.
The commission has scheduled a hearing on the show-cause notice under Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja’s chair on August 23.
Earlier, the ECP ruled that the PTI received prohibited funding.
