Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Monday stated that the sun of February 8 will rise with the victory of Bilawal Bhutto.
Expressing his gratitude to the people of the Sindh province for PPP’s victory in the by-elections, he said that the heart of Sindh 'Karachi' also chanted the slogan of 'Jeyay Bhutto'
The former president also paid tributes to party workers for victory in the by-elections.
"Every worker of the PPP should commence the election campaign by becoming the ambassador of former premier Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto," he said.
Asif Zardari further said that PPP would eliminate the problems of the people.
The PPP co-chairman said that the success of Murtaza Wahab and Salman Abdullah Murad was a special message of Karachittes for PPP's opponents.
On Sunday, Murtaza Wahab won the union committee (UC) chairman seat from Karachi’s Saddar Town area in local government (LG) elections held across 14 districts of Sindh on Sunday.
According to unofficial results, Wahab secured 3,976 votes against Jamat-e-Islami (JI) candidate Noor-ul-Islam, who received only 1,556 votes.
Following the announcement of the results, the jubilant PPP workers took to the streets to celebrate the victory.
Karachi’s deputy Mayor Salman Murad of the PPP also won the chairman’s seat from Karachi’s Malir district.
It is pertinent to mention that Karachi mayor elections were held in June 2023 and under the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act, the mayor and deputy mayor are required to contest and win UC chairman elections within 6 months after being elected.
