Interior Minister Naqvi directs to develop plan for expansion of Islamabad’s Simly Dam

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday visited Islamabad’s Simli Dam for a detailed inspection of its operations.

During the visit, officials briefed the minister that Simli Dam serves as a key source of drinking water for the federal capital and currently fulfills around 40 percent of the federal capital’s total water requirements.

Given the rising water demand in the city, the interior minister directed the concerned authorities to urgently prepare a comprehensive and practical plan for the expansion of the dam.

He emphasized that extending the facility would help ensure an adequate and uninterrupted water supply.

The interior minister said that with the expansion of Simli Dam, sufficient water availability could be secured, preventing shortages for residents of Islamabad during the summer season as well as in routine conditions.
