PAF officer martyred while trying to rescue woman in Islamabad: police

Islamabad (Web Desk): A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer lost his life after courageously stepping in to protect a woman during an alleged kidnapping attempt on Islamabad’s Ninth Avenue, according to police and preliminary investigation reports.

Officials said Group Captain Asim was driving through the area when he noticed a woman standing beside a motorcycle while a man appeared to be forcing her against her will.

Sensing that something was wrong, the officer immediately stopped his vehicle. The woman then rushed behind his car, apparently seeking safety from the man.

Police said the suspect, identified as Saad, became involved in a verbal confrontation with Group Captain Asim before allegedly pulling out a firearm and shooting him. The officer suffered life-threatening injuries and was later martyred, while the accused escaped from the scene.

As the investigation progressed, the woman informed investigators that the suspect was her colleague who had offered to drop her home. She claimed that instead of taking the agreed route, he allegedly tried to drive her to another destination. When she objected, the disagreement escalated.

The woman further told police that Group Captain Asim intervened at a critical moment, preventing the suspect from taking her away and ensuring her safety.

Authorities have since launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the accused, who remains at large.

Group Captain Asim leaves behind his widow, a daughter and a son.
