Lahore (Web Desk): At least 53 new dengue cases were reported in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
According to official record, at least 419 confirmed patients of dengue were reported across the province during the past week. This was the highest for the period during the ongoing year.
The highest daily figure was 90, recorded on August 31, followed by 84 a day later.
Punjab Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan stated that at least 28 news cases were reported in Lahore yesterday, while 590 confirmed dengue patients were reported in the provincial capital this year.
In Rawalpindi, 8 new cases were reported yesterday while 279 confirmed dengue patients were reported in the city this year.
Meanwhile, Multan has seen 3 new dengue cases yesterday, while total of 169 patients were reported during this year.
Secretary health added that one new case was reported in Faisalabad with total of 113 dengue patients during the year.
He said that two new dengue patients were confirmed in Gujranwala and Narowal yesterday, while one new dengue patient was reported in Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakpattan, Sargodha and Chakwal.
Ali Jan Khan said that a total of 60 dengue patients are currently under treatment in hospitals across Punjab, whose conditions are satisfactory.
The health secretary said 2,678 beds had been allocated 36 district hospitals for the dengue patients.
He requested the people of the province to cooperate with the anti-dengue teams formed by the government.
It is pertinent to mention that at leas 1511 confirmed cases of dengue were reported in 36 districts of Punjab this year, however, no death due to the virus was eported in the province.
