Pakistan condemns missile, drone attacks on UAE's civilian infrastructure: PM Shehbaz 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned missile and drone strikes that hit civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reiterating Pakistan’s complete support for the country’s leadership and its citizens.

The development follows a drone strike a day earlier on an energy installation in Fujairah, which left three Indian nationals injured. The UAE attributed the attack to Iran, while Iranian state television stated that Tehran had no prior intention or planned programme to target oil facilities within the Emirati territory.

The foreign ministry of the Gulf state described the incident as a significant and worrying escalation that directly endangers national security, adding that the UAE reserves its full and legitimate right to respond in an appropriate manner.

In a message shared on X, PM Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s backing for the UAE and conveyed solidarity with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"Pakistan stands firmly with our Emirati brothers and sisters as well as with the Government of the United Arab Emirates at this difficult time," he wrote.

He further highlighted that preserving the ceasefire is vital and warned that any further escalation could weaken regional stability. He urged all sides to safeguard diplomatic engagement and prioritise dialogue for lasting peace and stability. He added: "It is absolutely essential that the ceasefire be upheld and respected, to allow necessary diplomatic space for dialogue leading to enduring peace and stability in the region."

The latest drone incident has disrupted a relatively calm phase in the region that had followed a ceasefire arrangement, mediated with Pakistan’s involvement, between Washington and Tehran, which came into force on April 8 and paused more than a month of heightened hostilities in the Gulf.
This is not the first time energy facilities in Fujairah have been targeted.

Earlier on March 14, a drone attack struck the Port of Fujairah, causing fires and leading to the suspension of certain oil-loading activities.

Fujairah holds strategic significance for the UAE’s oil export system as it lies at the end of the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline, which transports crude from inland production areas to the Gulf of Oman, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. This route has enabled the UAE to continue exporting oil to international markets even amid tensions in the surrounding waterways.
