Govt to introduce special commercial courts for faster resolution of business disputes

Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government has decided in principle to establish special commercial courts across the country to protect the business community and ensure the swift resolution of trade-related disputes.

The initiative aims to create a comprehensive legal framework under which commercial cases can be decided without unnecessary delays, providing faster justice in business matters.

For this purpose, a high-level committee has been formed under the leadership of Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

The committee also includes the Attorney General and the Minister of State for Finance, who will jointly work on drafting the legal structure and framework for the proposed commercial courts.

According to officials, the proposed system is designed to help resolve business disputes efficiently, avoiding the prolonged litigation that currently exists in the judicial process.

The committee has been directed to submit its final recommendations and draft legislation within 45 days.

Government sources say the main objective of establishing these courts is to restore investor confidence, both domestic and foreign, and to ensure that commercial disputes are handled in a timely and effective manner without long legal delays.
