Formal reception held for Uzbek President at PM House

Islamabad (Web Desk): A formal reception was hosted at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Thursday to honor the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed the visiting leader, while a contingent of Pakistan’s armed forces presented a ceremonial guard of honour.

The two leaders also took the opportunity to introduce their respective cabinet members to one another, fostering a spirit of diplomatic engagement and collaboration.

Earlier, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Pakistan for a two-day state visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

As the Uzbek president, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet ministers and business leaders, landed at Nur Khan Airbase from his special aircraft, he was warmly welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a colorful display of hospitality, two children dressed in traditional Pakistani clothing presented bouquets to the visiting president, while a 21-gun salute resounded in the background.

A well-drilled contingent of the Pakistan armed forces offered a static salute, and the tri-services band delivered a stirring musical performance. Children holding the flags of Pakistan and Uzbekistan lined the reception area, waving cheerfully as the president arrived.

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to meet with President Zardari, hold detailed discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum.

Discussions will focus on the full range of bilateral relations, exploring new avenues to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy, defense, education, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity.

This is the Uzbek president’s second trip to Pakistan, highlighting the upward trajectory of bilateral ties and the deep-rooted fraternal relationship between the two countries, grounded in shared history, faith, and a common vision for peace and prosperity across Central and South Asia.
